Northview Christian Fellowship
A Brief History
Northview Christian Fellowship (NCF) is an evangelical Christian church located in Cebu City, Philippines. Its humble beginnings started in the year 2000 when God placed a vision in the hearts of Deonie Hope and Debbie Ann Riveral, together with their families, to begin a church ministry in Cebu.
What began as a small home Bible study fellowship soon grew into a worship gathering that met every Sunday at the Maria Luisa Estate Park Clubhouse in Banilad, Cebu City. The early congregation worshiped with simplicity and joy, singing praises to God accompanied by a single acoustic guitar under the leadership of Rev. Marvin Layug. During this time, the group was known as Cebu Christian Fellowship.
As the fellowship grew and the vision expanded, the church felt God’s leading to establish a permanent place of worship. In 2001, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the construction of a church building in Bacayan, Cebu City. Through the generosity of faithful Christians in Cebu and Filipino communities abroad, the sanctuary was completed in 2003 and dedicated to the Lord. It was also during this time that the church officially adopted the name Northview Christian Fellowship.
The church experienced seasons of both growth and challenge. Between 2004 and 2010, NCF went through a period without a resident pastor. Despite this, God faithfully sustained the church as visiting pastors, missionaries, and volunteers continued to minister to the congregation.
In 2008, the church leadership formally established its Vision and Mission, Articles of Faith, and By-Laws, strengthening its spiritual direction and organizational structure. Later, in 2013, Northview Christian Fellowship was officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the Philippines.
Over the years, the ministry continued to grow through children’s ministries, Vacation Bible School, community outreach programs, and discipleship activities. Additional facilities were built between 2016 and 2019, including a basketball gym and ministry buildings that support church and community events.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the church adapted by holding online worship services while continuing to care for its members and reach the community with the message of hope found in Jesus Christ.
In August 2022, Rev. Vergel T. Salangsang accepted the call to serve as the pastor of Northview Christian Fellowship. Today, the church continues its mission of guiding people of all backgrounds into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, proclaiming the Gospel of God’s grace to all generations.
As NCF celebrates God’s faithfulness through the years, the church remains committed to sharing the Gospel, serving the community, and raising future generations who will honor and glorify the Lord.
