Teaching and preaching are God’s ministry. It’s a work we do for God to make a difference in others’ lives. Being an educator is so much more than just a profession. It is a call to ministry.
In Matthew 28:19-20, God wants you to teach. Jesus commanded His disciples to teach. This command is as important as any other He issued. But He did not tell us to do something that no one has ever done before. Jesus said we are to teach people to obey the things He commanded. This is the gospel we ourselves have received.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Matthew 28:19-20
The difference between preaching and teaching is that preaching is primarily geared toward life-change while teaching is primarily aimed at transferring knowledge.
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.
Ephesians 4:11-12
Paul names each kind of church leader and says that their collective role in the church is to equip God’s people. Paul’s view is that church leaders should equip God’s people so that they can do the work of ministry.
